As we commence this new Unit of Inquiry it is important that you have an understanding of Blooms Taxonomy. Simply put Blooms Taxonomy is a way for the sorting and grouping of different levels of learning. All learning starts at the lower levels of knowledge and understanding. We then progress to higher order thinking skills such as comparing and contrasting, making graphs etc to show how we can apply our understanding of new knowledge. To help with your understanding of Blooms I have created the activity below based on the book “Of mice and men”. Please complete this activity and post in your blog.
Activities using Blooms Taxonomy
1. Knowledge- select one character from the novel “Of mice and men” who has the qualities of a heroine/hero. List the qualities and tell why you think they are heroic.

I think George is a heroic character because he had to spend his life taking care of Lennie, and he always conceal lennie’s fault.
2. Comprehension- CONSTRUCT a time line that. summarises what happens in the story “Of mice and men”.
2. Comprehension- CONSTRUCT a time line that. summarises what happens in the story “Of mice and men”.
First, George and Lennie left their town and moved to another town for a job. They got a job in the ranch. In the ranch, they met new friends and peoples. One day, Lennie killed the wife of the boss’s son. And because George didn’t want lennie to get suffer, he shot him.
3. Application- THINK of a situation that occurred to a character in the story “Of mice and men” and write about how you would have handled the situation differently.
I chose the situation when Lennie killed the boss’s son wife. If I were Lennie I should have to control my emotion more (even if I were a mentally disabled person) I mean, I shouldn’t get panic easily.
4. Analysis- IDENTIFY general characteristics (stated and/or implied) of one of the main characters and complete the table below.
Characters Name
Lennie
Physical characteristics
Big body
Personality
Mentally disabled, stupid
Major challenges/problems
He was a mentally disabled person, he can’t think when he acts.
5. Synthesis- WRITE three new titles for the story that would give a good idea what it is about.
The big and the small

The big and the small
Dreams don’t come true
Never ending friendship
Never ending friendship
CREATE an original character and tell how the character would fit in the story.
6. Evaluation- DECIDE which character in the selection you would most like to spend a day with and describe why.
I’d like to spend my day with George because he’s royal, and kind of responsible (so that he can take care of me) , and short of humble I think.
OR
JUDGE whether or not a character should have acted in a particular way and
why.
